Storytelling is an art as old as mankind itself. Communicating through the medium of a story captures our attention and imagination, which serves to preserve the point of the story in our minds much longer than if we were only given a list of facts.

Human beings were created to gravitate toward stories. One can only look at the children to see how storytelling deeply draws them into a state of total absorption with the story at hand.

Storytelling is also a powerful communication tool that you can use to communicate with adults.

Probably the best-known storyteller of all time was Jesus of Nazareth. He incorporated parables into his stories that, after two thousand years, are still being retold today.  

Learning to be a compelling storyteller can inspire others to action.

And a good storyteller is one sign of being a good and effective leader.

Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays from 3 to 6 pm across central Florida. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 29 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
