It’s Labor Day Weekend .
The extended weekend marks one of the oldest rites of passage as we salute the very heartbeat of our nation, the American worker.
The extended weekend also marks the official end of summer. It’s our official adjustment to get back to the routines of life.
So just what’s so special about Labor Day?
It recognizes early agricultural workers who grew and exported cotton and tobacco, those on Henry Ford’s revolutionizing assembly line who gave labor to the industrial revolution, the women who worked on our World War II airplane, tank and vehicle production lines and the service industry workers of today: Their contributions and economic impact are vital components contributing to the greatness of America.
Let us pause today and give thanks for our past and present workers.
They truly are the heart of America.
