It was an eventful few days here in Florida, a Labor Day weekend we won’t soon forget. The sunshine state was held hostage from the “end of summer celebrations” as we waited and watched Hurricane Dorian terrorize the Bahamas.
As far as Florida’s preparation and orderly evacuation go, state and local officials are receiving high marks.
At the top of the list is rookie hurricane Governor, Ron DeSantis. I say rookie because this was his first hurricane challenge as the state’s chief executive officer.
Many are crediting him with high marks for his “chain of command” military style and experience in applying those skills to evaluate, make informed judgements and delegate certain tasks to local officials.
I just hope he doesn’t have to deploy those skills again any time soon.
