Two medical marijuana companies who look to make a gazillion dollars if recreational pot is legalized in Florida, just spent huge dollars to influence the vote.
Surterra Holdings, Inc. and MM Enterprises USA, LLC both cut checks for $545,000 each to “Make it Legal”, the group sponsoring a constitutional amendment push.
The two firms are betting, if passed, Floridians age 21 and older will be allowed to have on their persons 2.5 ounces of cannabis to be used for any reason.
To bypass the legislature for approval, “Make It Legal” will have to gather 766,200 petition signatures by February, validate the authenticity of those signatures, and get the Florida Supreme Court to ok the ballot language.
Big bucks, by a few, to sidestep our elected representatives, for the people.
