“South Florida Bulls Get New Corral”
The University of South Florida Bulls will finally get their own corral.
In 2026, a new 35,000-seat stadium will occupy space at the existing Sycamore Fields on the campus of Tampa's flagship state university.
The new home tenants are the South Florida Bull's football and women's lacrosse teams.
The price tag lassoed is about $340 million, with Tampa General Hospital kicking in $25 million. The Florida Board of Governors approved the project.
USF President Rhea Law and former Speaker of the Florida House Will Weatherford championed the project through the state's approval process.
John Allen, who served as USF's first president, opposed college sports "big time." As a result. "Accent on Learning" was the school's motto for decades.
Sorry, John, it’s time to move on. Times are a-changing for USF.
