Power and clout are returning to Tampa Bay in 2021 if Republicans continue to control the majority in the Florida Legislature.
The next Speaker of the Florida House will be Republican State Rep Chris Sprowls. District 65, Clearwater.
In the upper chamber Republican State Senator Wilton Simpson, District 10 of Hernando, Citrus and sections of Pasco County, will be the next Florida Senate President.
That is outstanding news for our region. To have both House and Senate leaders representing the same area bolds well for enhanced regional funding for Tampa Bay. It’s a coordination that rarely occurs.
Power brokers representing all manner of local special interests have been busy for quite some time getting their project pitches ready.
The bottom line: a huge win win for Tampa Bay.
