There is always a new way to make big bucks.
The latest is video games. And the growing popularity could change the landscape for professional sports and sports gambling.
It’s a huge multi-billion-dollar industry, one that the USF Muma College of Business hosted a capacity crowd of hundreds including Lighting owner Jeff Vinik, a big investor in Axiomatic Gaming.
A big question is are professional sports venues a dying breed? The average viewer of the NFL is over 50, for the NBA it’s over 40. It’s estimated that 167 million people are viewing video games and that number tops viewers of MLB and NHL.
Video gaming watch events are drawing thousands.
And wagering on professional esporters will soon be the next big thing to fleece patrons out of their cash, in big numbers as well.
