“Pots Green Light Use in Pinellas County”

Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About

Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCade issued a memo to deputies defining what pot cases will be prosecuted, and which ones won’t.

Two Tampa PD officers got fired for disposing of a small amount of pot, rather than book it as evidence. Pinellas’ position now states that in certain situations, they don’t want evidence collected when there is no intention to prosecute the case.

Crimes now avoiding prosecution include small amounts of pot creams, oils, students who vape at school, cannabis cookies, and gummies.

And since hemp is now legal in Florida, which looks and smells like pot, law enforcement must take additional steps of verification before making an arrest.

The pot light just turned green in Pinellas, sending kids a clear message.
