Hurricane Helene made landfall on September 26. Hurricane Milton made landfall on October 9.
Two hurricanes slammed into Florida in two weeks.
The results are catastrophic. The personal devastation overwhelmed many among us.
The silver lining is that the death toll could have been much higher than was the case.
Rebuilding and restoration will take years to complete. Still, thanks to our most exceptional Governor Ron DeSantis and his state emergency response team, essential services are being restored in record time by their pre-deploying of cut-and-toss crews, first responders, power linemen, and highway patrol fuel tanker escorts.
What begins as a significant challenge is always followed by a time of reflection and reset.
Material things come and go, but accepting eternal security from Jesus is priceless.
Disasters are great teachers.
Bill Bunkley is an 18-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm.
