The Orlando Sentinel is reporting, “Two citizens initiatives that would legalize recreational marijuana in Florida are still far away from gathering enough signatures to get on the 2020 ballot – and time is running out.”

For a citizen initiative to qualify for the 2020 ballot, 766,200 certified signatures must be collected by February 1. Certified means petition signatures must be verified.   

Two groups are collecting signatures.

One group, Regulate Florida, has collected only 92,000 signatures to date. The other group, Make It Legal, has but 57,000 signatures.

I believe “big-buck” investors in recreational marijuana will come to the rescue by hiring more signature gathers. Too much profit is at stake to let it fail.

But if not, both pot initiatives could go up in smoke for 2020.
