“Veterans Day”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Tuesday, November 11, 2025
It’s Veterans Day.
We remember the living and the dead who served in the Armed Forces during both peaceful times and in war.
It was first proclaimed at 11:00 AM on November 11, 1918, to commemorate the armistice, the end of World War I.
A year later, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation referring to the day as Armistice Day.
Decades later, in 1954, it became Veterans Day to honor all who served.
It’s a proud time of year for me because my mom and dad instilled in me a foundational principle: duty to country. Both my parents served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, the forerunner of today’s United States Air Force.
As you go about your day, remember the sacrifice our Veterans gave on your behalf as you enjoy the blessings of freedom.
