“It Will Cost Everyone If The Rays Play Ball In Ybor City”

Major League Baseball Owners gathered in Lake Buena Vista for their quarterly meeting and Tampa Bay principal owner Stuart Sternberg was upbeat about Rays baseball in Ybor City.
He likes the site, but if the Rays are ever to throw the first pitch in Ybor, a lot has to happen.
Standing in the way is a minimal price tag of about $800 million.
Based on revenue from an Ybor location, the team could pony up $150 million, leaving $650 million to project promoters County Commissioner Ken Hagan and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn to cover.
And fans, you’ll have to pony up too long before the first spade of dirt is shoveled. Sternberg said community financial support by way of season tickets and sponsorships must see an increase of 50% over current levels.
It WILL cost everyone, if the Rays play ball in Ybor City.
