I very much appreciate the retailers who stayed closed on Thanksgiving Day, even if at the arrival of Black Friday midnight their doors opened wide. 

Each year I have criticized retailers with their eye-catching “super deals’ only available on Thanksgiving Day, as a major disruptor of family gatherings across America.

To their credit, many retailers realize they can make as much over a three-day weekend blitz, then stretching it into four days.

Retail employees also are blessed by spending Thanksgiving with their families.

Now my annual word of caution.

Be aware of special items made just for Black Friday pricing. Look closely at the specs and fine print to be sure you are indeed getting that super screaming deal.

And don’t set yourself up for plastic surgery on your credit cards later.

Happy bargain hunting.
