Will Governor Ron DeSantis depart Florida to join the Trump Administration as the Secretary of Defense?
As I record this opinion, no decision has been made.
But the thought of DeSantis stepping down has caused a “daze” among conservatives and many Christ followers in the Free State of Florida.
As the architect who, under his leadership, built one of the most conservative states in the union, turning Florida from a meandering purple state to a rock-solid red state, Ron’s absence would be felt around the state.
His leadership during hurricanes, defense of the unborn, parental rights, religious liberty, and blocking underage puberty blockers and mutilation surgeries, demonstrate his outstanding accomplishments.
If DeSantis departs, I’m confident that Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez will pursue similar policy initiatives as governor.
Bill Bunkley is an 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 29 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year.
