As Tax Reform passed and Congressional Republicans headed to the White House victory celebration, news of two high profile departures was rolling through Tampa Bay.

The two departures could not be any more different.

Florida State Senator Jack Latvala is resigning over charges of sexual harassment and Tampa Bay Ray Evan Longoria is leaving to play for the San Francisco Giants.

Say it isn’t so on both counts.

Say it isn’t so that sexual harassment is now an exposed plague tarnishing all levels of human interaction.

Say it isn’t so that Tampa Bay’s Mr. Baseball, the designated franchise player, the guy that would play out his outstanding career here for Tampa Bay, is gone.

But it is so.

And both realities are difficult to swallow, no matter how we may try to sugar coat it.
