President Donald Trump is quickly fulfilling many of his campaign promises with one glaring exception: religious liberty and religious freedom protections.
As Trump was publically pronouncing that his administration would “do everything in its power to defend and protect religious liberty” on multiple fronts before the faithful gathered at the Washington National Prayer Breakfast, behind the scenes his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner were working with the LGBT community to squash a draft executive order titled “Establishing a government-wide initiative to respect religious freedom.”
This is a very troubling development.
I hope President Trump isn’t misled by others into thinking repeal of the Johnson Amendment will somehow substitute for not stepping up to protect the religious freedom of Christian bakers, wedding photographers, pastors and others.
That would be a huge, “BIG TIME” mistake.
