The U. S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. The issue reverts to the states where it belongs. The expected legal battle in Florida has begun.
A Leon County judge immediately blocked Florida’s 15-week abortion ban. The block is now on hold as the State of Florida appealed and obtained a stay that sets aside his blocking order as it moves through the court process.
Pro-abortion supporters say Florida’s constitutional right to privacy provision deems the abortion ban unconstitutional. That provision was written to protect your computer privacy, not for abortions.
A liberal Florida Supreme Court, through the years, expanded its meaning in the broadest of terms.
Today’s conservative court will uphold the ban but may also roll back expanded privacy provisions.
Liberals could get more than they bargained for.
