 Florida businesses have embarked on a controversial new business plan: credit or debit card-only purchases.

The practice raised my eyebrows when I encountered it at our local AMC theater. It is a dangerous monetary practice that may be blocked by legislators in Tallahassee during the next legislative session.

Florida Senate Bill 106 and House Bill 35 would require most businesses to accept cash payments and prohibit them from charging a fee or placing conditions on accepting cash.

The federal government is flirting with transforming us into an all-digital currency, outlawing cash and thereby tracking all our transactions. Allowing businesses to move ban cash is a mistake.  

The practice is discriminatory to the poor and harmful in the hands of a future corrupt government.

I support legislation allowing cash for financial transactions.
