After my annual end-of-year short-term sabbatical in the double-digit temperatures of snow-packed Yellowstone Park in Montana, I am back on the air.

2025 has come roaring in.

In the first few days of the new year, many issues and events have clamored for our attention, any of which would be worthy of discussion in this space.

But without a doubt, the unbelievable apocalyptic fires that besieged Los Angeles in a matter of hours are beyond all belief. 

We who live in Florida know the power and devastation caused by hurricanes. Usually, we have time to prepare.

But these fires, fed by 100 mph winds and perfect humidity that produce raging infernos, caught thousands of LA residents off guard.

We all have an opportunity to come together in prayer for Los Angeles. This catastrophe's long-term effects on the people are incalculable. 

Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 29 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
