Could the Bible be making a comeback in public schools?
Well, sort of.
HB 195 by Florida House Democrat Kimberly Daniels of Jacksonville would require the teaching of elective, secular high school courses in Hebrew and Bible Scriptures.
Now don’t get too excited about this bill because the courses would not be taught in the fashion historically offered across America for decades.
The elective courses could not be taught endorsing or criticizing a particular faith or religion.
Moral instruction has steadily declined in our public schools. And though I am evangelically oriented in my approach to Bible instruction, teaching a historical only perspective of the Scriptures gives students an overview that could lead to future investigation into their moral and spiritual development.
