I congratulate “No Casinos” for their commitment to hold the line against state-sanctioned gambling expansion in Florida. Their recent state-wide signature campaign will result in allowing Floridians to decide if they wish to take charge and control of any gambling expansion in our state. 

Voters should support their efforts.

As we just learned about Florida’s record-breaking 2016 tourist revenue coming in at $112 billion, there is no reason we should alter our significant, worldwide family friendly tourist “branding” by mixing it in with casinos.

Las Vegas already demonstrated that mixing family tourism with casino gambling was a losing proposition. They nixed the families and reverted to just gambling and adult entertainment.

Add the significant social costs associated with easy access to gambling, let’s not take a chance on a losing bet by mixing tourism and gambling.
