For years I have been warning about the deleterious mental and psychological effects on children by mature and violent video games.
Now those underage participants in the video game world, decked out in their headset and microphone gear, are competing online with persons outside of their home.
And that has opened up a whole new risk factor: exposure to predators of human trafficking.
Right here in St. Petersburg seven adults were charged with imprisoning two 16 and 17-year-old boys, lured here out-of-state via video games. They were sexually abused for nearly a year.
Three of the most popular games infiltrated by human traffickers are Fortnight, Minecraft and Discord.
Parents, YOUR kids can be lured right out of your home if you don’t pay attention to who they are communicating with.
