Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”

Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About

An American Air Lines CRJ700 regional jet operated by PSA Airlines was on a final approach to Washington’s Reagan Airport when it was struck by the rotor blades of a UH-60 Black Hawk Army helicopter on a routine recertification training mission flying along the Potomac River.

Both crashed with no survivors.

Was it a pilot error, Air Traffic Control error, or both?

Just days ago, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, who’s been sounding the alarm about significant deficiencies at Air Traffic Control, most notably their antiquated computer system, warned President Trump about the serious problem. 68% of United’s flight delays are due to Air Traffic Control.

Also, too many daily flights get crammed into Reagan’s limited airspace.

Sadly, this tragedy will be the catalyst for making safe air travel one of President Trump's top priorities.
