The Seminole Tribe of Florida remains tribal king of state-sanctioned gambling in Florida.
Three other tribal kings of legal gambling in America, the Las Vegas Sands, online giants DraftKings, and FanDuel, all lost their bets as they failed to collect enough certified voter petitions to get two separate pro-gambling proposed Florida constitutional amendments on the November 8 ballot.
Both proposed amendments were designed to break the Seminole Tribe gambling monopoly throughout Florida. Wallpapering the state with slot machines, the crack cocaine of gambling, and online sports betting would be step one in making Florida a top gambling destination state, not a pro-family tourist state.
Any state sanctioning of gambling devastates the poor and vulnerable among us, and that’s why I oppose it all.
