Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
Now that Governor DeSantis, Florida Senate President Albritten, and House Speaker Perez have staked out their positions on changes to Florida law regarding illegal alien enforcement, it’s time for all sides to compromise.
Republican legislative members and their constituents are more uneasy with each passing day. The division is not good for the Florida Republican Party.
Due to past political tactics between the legislative and executive branches, emotions are running raw, but Floridians will not get those nuances.
With due respect to Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, who may well win the Governor’s office in 2028, the first compromise is to agree that the governor's office should oversee the state’s agencies' immigration compliance, a concept Floridians will get.
Gentlemen let’s get back to the negotiating table.
