The anti-semitic “Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions” movement met stiff resistance in the United States Senate this week.
Senator Marco Rubio led the effort with a vote of 77 to 23 to allow state and local governments to opt out of doing business with companies that boycott Israel.
Rubio wrote in the New York Times “The goal of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement is to eliminate any Jewish state between the Jordon River and the Mediterranean Sea.”
He went on to write “While the First Amendment protects the right of individuals to free speech, it does not protect the right of entities to engage in discriminatory conduct.”
Senator Rubio is right but many on the left oppose his legislation, and we’ll have to see how the Democrat-controlled House deals with his bill.
