On a chilly and blustery day, the proposed Florida constitutional amendment making abortion legal at any time up to birth is in the hands of the Florida Supreme Court.
The justices probed and quizzed the attorneys on both sides for more than 40 minutes during the oral arguments.
You will hear and read all sorts of media accounts about today’s oral arguments, trying to read the tea leaves about the questions, the answers, and the dynamics of the exchanges between the Justices and the lawyers arguing both sides of the issue.
Anyone who tells you how the Florida Supreme Court will rule is playing a fool’s game.
Nobody knows.
Until then, keep praying that this amendment didn’t follow the rules for a citizen petition constitutional amendment and will be left off the ballot.
Keep praying until we have the answer. That’s the part we play.
