“Mayorkas Impeachment Vote Should be an Easy Decision”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Thursday, February 15, 2024
For the first time since 1876, a Cabinet secretary is impeached by the United States Congress.
In a razor-thin vote of 214-213, Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was finally impeached.
The vote should have come months ago, and based on the facts of a wide open southwest border allowing millions of illegals to enter our country, it should have been a straightforward decision.
But easy, common-sense votes are not a product of the U. S. Congress. Three Republicans sided with the Democrats to try to block the impeachment.
Now, before you get excited by this vote, don’t. Impeachment is dead on arrival in the U. S. Senate, and President Biden would surely veto it if it ever hit his desk.
Statesmanship and doing what’s best for our country have long since bowed down to power and control in Congress.
So much for the “power of the people.”
