“Illegal Online Sports Betting is Widespread Among Florida’s College Students”

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”

Air Date Friday, February 16, 2024

The NCAA disclosed that sports betting with online bookies between the age range of 18-21 is up to 58% for wagering on at least one sporting event a year.

Weekly paychecks and college allowances are being blown on sports bets.

Online sports betting websites operate illegally in Florida.

Only the state's three Hard Rock Casino properties can legally offer sports betting, having agreed to pay the state a minimum of $2.5 billion for five years for the privilege of raking in billions more.

But that's not stopping a plethora of illegal online bookies. They claim they have a loophole in the Florida prohibition by claiming their wagering is a game of skill and not a game of gambling.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck.

Enough said.

Florida must shut down illegal online sports betting.
