Students from Broward’s Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School boarded a fleet of buses to travel 450 miles to the State Capitol.

After laying to rest several of their classmates, 100 students are in Tallahassee insisting legislators utilize the last three weeks of the session to revise state mental health and gun laws to forestall a reoccurrence of the massacre that killed their fellow 17 students and staff members.

Add to their numbers a decision by Leon County’s School Board to excuse absences by local students who want to join the protests.

These Broward students have experienced more than any child should ever have to live through.

And though one might not agree with all of the student's demands, the state’s elected officials here in Tallahassee should listen, with compassion, to everything students have come here to share.
