Security at public gatherings is a top priority in America. Thwarting or escaping a violent attack is a personal responsibility as well as an organizational one.
Churches and corporate worship experiences are not immune to a threat; they are near the top of the concern list.
Florida Senate Bill 598 would allow churches, who also have a school located on their campus, to allow a person authorized to carry a concealed weapon to be armed during non-school hours. Currently, a firearm is not allowed on any school property, private or public.
SB 598 passed the Judiciary Committee by a vote of 4 to 2.
It is sad that our fallen world has sunk to this low requiring such measures, but in my personal opinion, this is a reasonable compromise for churches choosing to utilize this tool.
