As religious conservatives try to figure just where President Donald Trump will end up on religious liberty issues, they got a little reprieve from his Department of Education. 

The controversial directive from President Obama’s Department of Education setting forth federal guidelines for public school bathroom, gym and showering use by transgender students is canceled.  

Citing state’s rights jurisdiction, the Trump Administration removed themselves from the controversy.

Or have they?

By playing the state’s rights card, which is an appropriate interpretation I might add, we still don’t have anything concrete on his position on the issue itself, since Trump proclaimed back in April of last year that Caitlyn Jenner could select whichever bathroom the former track star wished when visiting Trump Tower. 

So as his first 100 days marches on, controversy is in fact building regarding the President’s pledge to protect religious liberty.
