After last year’s disappointing session where no pro-life legislation saw passage, this year is a far different story.

Thanks to pre-session commitments for legislation granting Parental Consent before a minor’s abortion by Florida Senate President Bill Galvano, Speaker of the House Jose Oliva, and Governor Ron DeSantis, this bill has completed the legislative process and is already on to the Governor. 

But there are a pair of related bills I am also supporting this session that also must pass: HB 1059 & SB 1634 granting Parental Rights in medical and public education decisions.

Facing a national battle over socialism where the government assumes rights over parenting, I am proud Florida is taking a stand to shore the rights of parents to make decisions for their kids.

Bill Bunkley is a 14-year veteran Salem Radio Network talk show host based in west-central Florida, airing weekdays 3 to 6 PM. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
