“Waive All Hurricane Damage Permitting Fees”

Local Florida governments are very late to the game concerning rebuilding hurricane damage inflicted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Storm victims have been struggling for months to recover. They have received little to no help from local governments as they struggle to rebuild their homes.
Some, in order to repair otherwise simple repairs, have been required to foot the bill for an expensive engineering report before getting permit approval to move forward.
Finally, a bit of some common sense help may be forthcoming.
Pinellas County Commissioners are considering a measure to waive building permit fees for reconstruction and repairs for hurricane damage.
Unfortunately, the move is about four months too late, but I guess it's better late than never.
The government should never profit from homeowners' misfortunes in a natural disaster.
