With the surge of retiring Baby Boomers converging on Florida a word of warning: be on the lookout for those who would callously rip them off.
Fox 13 News recently reported that more than $30 billion, yes billion with a B, is stolen from the elderly each year. Florida leads the nation in the number of con schemes.
Seniors who are not receiving a lot of interest from their savings and investment accounts are the most vulnerable to being “tempted” and at risk of getting bilked of their life’s accumulation.
Remember many of the piranhas out there are not harden criminals with rap sheets, but regular folks in the community who operate under law enforcement’s radar.
Seniors, do your homework and take the necessary safety and security steps to protect your nest egg.
You worked too hard to lose it.
