Governor Rick Scott and Florida House and Senate Republicans have rolled out their plans in response to the Parkland school massacre. All three plans are similar, but not identical.
The Senate was first to conduct committee meetings on SB 7022 Firearm Safety, SB 7024 Public Records Withholding of Victims of a Crime of Mass Violence and SB 7026 School Safety.
With two weeks remaining in the regular session both chambers will expedite the normally lengthy deliberative process to get the compromise legislation to the Governor.
Look for the age to buy any gun in Florida to rise to 21, increased mental health screening and removal of firearms from individuals with mental health issues.
One thing that is not in the package, and will not be in the package, is a ban on AR 15 style of rifles.
