Tampa receives an important visitor today, though it should have occurred long ago. If people had done their jobs, the visit wouldn’t even be necessary.
U.S. Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson comes to MacDill Air Force Base to get a personal look at the horrible “mold infested” living conditions base families are coping with.
It is totally unacceptable that base housing contractors were allowed to let housing units get to this level of mold infestation. MacDill lies at the end of Tampa’s Peninsula. Humidity and high concentrations of moisture are not new phenomenon’s requiring new planning.
If it takes the head of the Air Force to come from DC to handle a simple housing maintenance problem, so be it.
Bottom line, MacDill families don’t deserve shoddy, mold-infested housing.
Just get it fixed!
