Could the Cross of Christ be banished from our National Military Cemeteries? Could the Star of David be removed from the tombstones of Jewish veterans interred at Arlington National Cemetery?

Federal Judge Paul Niemeyer from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals warned of this very possibility in his recent dissenting opinion in a case of a 90-year-old Cross inscribed with the names of 49 local veterans from Bladensburg, Maryland, who lost their lives during World War I.

His colleagues on the bench say the 40-foot shaped Cross must be removed from state property; its presence is unconstitutional.

So 49 beloved men who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their families and friends in Bladensburg, and their country, can no longer be honored in accordance with their faith?

What is this country coming to?

Are National Cemeteries next?

If symbols of faith, if recognition of God adorns our oldest government buildings in Washington, DC, as so they should, then so shall and must this Cross stand.
