“Florida Legislature Approve $116 Billion in Spending”

In a late-night rush to finish the 2024 proposed state budget Monday, Florida House and Senate members agreed on $116 Billion in state spending.

Reports are that a last-minute rush of turkeys stormed the negotiating rooms, enabling budget negotiators to bring home the bacon to fulfill many of their respective chamber’s wish lists. 

Millions in last-minute “supplemental funding initiatives,” a.k .a. local projects funding, turkeys, were key to resolving deadlocked negotiations.

Even Governor DeSantis got a take-home sweetener with the approval of another year of toll relief for regular users.

But beware that those last-minute hometown goodies may have a short shelf life.

The Governor’s veto pen will be cocked and ready to go as he’ll be on the hunt to dispatch some of those last-minute wild turkeys that got stuffed in budget.
