President Donald Trump held court for a joint session of the U. S. Congress and accumulated another accolade: It was the longest speech by any President for such a gathering.
There was no doubt when he finished the event, the evening served as a highlight reel as the first 6 weeks of his 2nd Presidential term.
Trump also honored several brave and courageous Americans, whom everyone could acknowledge and be incredibly proud of.
That is everybody except the House and Senate democrats who sat on their hands all night, held up silly little signs like they were competing on a TV game show, acting like petulant little children.
The evening was a public display of the hate and anger simmering in parts of our great country. Although watching it unfold was disturbing, we must take it as an educational opportunity to understand deep divisions among us.
Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 29 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
