Federal judge Richard Seeborg has ruled that asking if one is a citizen on the next census “threatens the very foundation of our democratic system.” He says it’s not constitutional.
Seeborg asserts it would cause an undercount of immigrants and Latinos that could distort the distribution of congressional seats.
Notice he does not make a distinction between legal and illegal immigrants. I believe if you are here legally you answer the question. If not, you don’t. That begs yet another question: should determining congressional districts be based partly on the number of illegal aliens in a district?
Absolutely not.
This is a left coast Judge and the liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is poised to strike again and back up this judge’s flawed reasoning when the appeal hits their doorsteps.
