“Criminal Penalties Suggested for Sharing Christ in Israel”
The nation of Israel is the epicenter of the world's major religions.
But one faith may be singled out for harsh penalties if its members get caught proselytizing.
Two ultra-Orthodox members of Israel's parliament, the Knesset, filed a bill that would criminalize sharing the Gospel of Jesus to convert a Jew to Christianity. Both legislators are members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling coalition.
Currently, proselytizing anyone under the age of 18 is illegal.
Bills like this have been introduced in the Knesset for over 20 years.
But it is with the support of Christians that Israel reclaimed its eternal homeland, mainly through the Christian Zionist movement.
Given Israel’s ongoing legacy of the persecution of its people, past and present, Religious Liberty for all should be a hallmark of the land of the Bible.
