When House Speaker Paul Ryan delivered his Friday afternoon “throw in the towel” concession speech regarding round one of the Obamacare repeal and replace issue I was taken aback.
Then President Trump declared he was finished working on his number one, often repeated campaign pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare and was moving on.
Really?
Eight years Republicans promised to end Obamacare, and after only 17 days of legislative wrangling, they’re moving on?
That narrative can’t last.
Look, I’ve worked in the legislative process for over two decades in Tallahassee.
Big issues take a lot of time and a lot of consensus building to pass, and replacing Obamacare is gargantuan and extremely complicated.
Mr. Trump and Mr. Ryan, the only thing many Americans want to hear right now is your pledge to roll out Plan B to repeal and replace Obamacare.
