“Personal Memories of American Assassinations”

Bill Bunkley With Something To Think About.

It’s been 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King was gunned down on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. I remember visiting the motel as part of the National Civil Rights Museum. We parked our car across from the motel and contemplated the fateful moments of that day.

As I reminisce about that day my mind also goes back to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and his brother Attorney General Bobby Kennedy in 1968.

On June 5th, we’ll also mark the 50th anniversary of Bobby Kennedy’s assassination.

During all three national tragedies, I was an impressionable youngster growing up with my family here in Tampa.

And to this day all three events still profoundly rise up within me and bring with them the same questioning emotions I felt back then.

I’m Bill Bunkley. Catch my show weekday’s at 4. Get the latest local and Florida updates by following @wtbn on twitter, or like us on Facebook @ wtbnAM.
