As Americans watch increasing COVID-19 cases, hospital stays, and death statistics, attention is now turning to the economic disaster facing the nation.
The pain of sudden unemployment is touching many families. Small business employees wonder if a job will be waiting for them when it’s time to reopen.
The big question is when the reopening begins, how long will it take for Americans to feel comfortable again to spend on nonessential products and services.
This economic stress test will rival tests from the Revolutionary War, Civil War, the Great Depression, and World War II.
Of paramount importance is for us to remember that God has seen America through all these stress tests, and though it’s not going to be easy, He will indeed see us through this one as well.
Bill Bunkley is a 14-year veteran Salem Radio Network talk show host based in west-central Florida, airing weekdays 3 to 6 PM. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
