Recently I was thinking about the future and, as a baby boomer, I was reminiscing about George Jetson and the Jetson’s family life in the year 2062.
Those of us who grew up with the Jetsons remember futuristic flying cars and home gadgets.
But thinking about the real future of the human race, George Jetson’s world is a disconnect.
Take for instance Walmart’s announcement that thousands of robots will be roaming their stores next year. These “smart assistants” will clean floors, scan inventory and sort deliveries. Which leads me to contemplate how much artificial intelligence will be the chief eliminator of jobs in the future.
This future automation will be the catalyst of a dwindling job market for both white and blue collar workers who may not be able to afford those flying scooters.
