Passover Celebrants Experiencing a New Reality

Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About Commentary”

Air Date Tuesday, April 23, 2024

Jews worldwide have embarked on Passover 2024, and last night's Passover Sedar Dinner had a new and compelling reality on redefining the significance of this sacred remembrance.

As Jews recall God's deliverance of their ancestors from the bondage of Egyptian slavery, Israel today is facing a renewed form of bondage: terrorism, war, and raging anti-semitism.

They also share the burden of remembering those who were lost to both Hamas and Hezbollah's brutal terrorism and an unknown number of hostages and fatalities yet to be confirmed.

There was an empty chair at last night's Sedar Passover Dinners to remember those who were absent from the table because of the terrorism.

Just as the Jews found themselves unsafe in Egypt, they have found themselves unsafe in many places around the earth, including right here in the United States of America.
