State sanctioned sports gambling may be coming to Florida without voter approval
You may be asking didn’t state voters approve a constitutional amendment last November calling for citizen approval for ANY gambling expansion?
Yes, that’s now the law.
But pro gambling legislators are working on a scheme to allow the Seminole Tribe exclusive rights to sports gambling in our state.
However, we the people have yet to see the Seminole proposal.
What I have learned is that in a clever move the Seminole tribe could operate sports gambling here through federal Indian gaming legislation without voter approval required under state law.
Governor DeSantis is now reviewing the scheme.
The devil will be in the details as to where, when and how a sports bet could be placed.
