Since 1959 the Boy Scouts of America kept confidential files on suspected pedophile leaders; a list that contained the names of 7,800 people.
The confident file was referred to as “perversion files.”
The file also lists the names of 12,000 scouts who may have been the victims of sexual abuse.
I wonder how many of the 7,800 pedophiles went on to other organizations to abuse children because the Boy Scouts did not contact law enforcement nor publically disclose these individuals.
Oddly, the Boy Scouts response was that they carefully screen their leaders and conduct background checks. Unfortunately, by withholding these names from the public, other organizations did not have this information for their own background checks.
The Boy Scouts must be held accountable for this travesty.
