“U. S. Supreme Court Must Uphold Presidential Immunity”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About Commentary”
Air Date Friday, April 26, 2024
On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court held a lengthy oral argument session regarding whether President Donald Trump has immunity for official actions he took during his Presidential term.
However, the high court was concerned about issues beyond President Trump's overzealous prosecution in this case, mainly implications for future presidents via unnecessary interference by partisan activist prosecutors.
Associate Justice Brent Kavanaugh was spot on when he probed special council Jack Smith's lawyer, Michael Dreeben, on the future potential for a "creative prosecutor" to use a "vague" statute to prosecute a future President for official acts in the Oval Office.
Under Article II of the U.S. Constitution, presidential power is exclusive. Congress cannot regulate it and cannot criminalize it.
Clearly, the court must uphold Presential immunity.
